Ok, let’s start off with a few words attributed to Einstein: if you can drive safely while kissing a girl, you are simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves:)
Research from Harvard suggests that 47% of the time our minds are focused on the future or the past so basically we’re not really present half the time!
Like monkeys swinging from branch to branch, our minds swing from thought to thought often stuck in a loop of future/past thoughts and events that flood our bodies with stress hormones that weaken our immune system. Sound familiar?

Here’s a favorite practice:
Close your eyes.
Breathe in slowly for the count of 1-2-3
Pause for the count of 1-2-3
Breathe out for the count of 1-2-3

If you often multi-task, here’s an idea to consider that I find useful.
For the last 10 years I’ve begun to savor working on just one thing at a time, and carefully choose the emotion I wish to bring to each task. One step at a time. This simple mindfulness practice gives me the room and freedom to enjoy do-ing the best job I can within the time scheduled.
All righty, that’s it for this week…and I’m still thinking about the kissing comment…whoa! Reminds me of the time my oldest brother crashed our parent’s sports car into an oak tree while kissing his girlfriend. Imagine explaining that scenario…oops:)
